WORKSHOPS
Aims
- To give participants a taste of the dance styles of various choreographers,
including company members and guests
- To introduce new dancers to Move Through Life
- To give interested company members the opportunity to develop their
skills in facilitation and choreography
Winter Dance Program 2007
8 x 1 hour workshops over 4 weeks in July - ballet, contempoary and
jazz - for intermdiate to advanced dancers.

Biographies
Cathy Chittleborough
Ballet Workshop - 7.30pm, Thursday 19 July
Cathy danced in the Mocean and 123 seasons of Move Through Life.
She was awarded an Associate of the Royal Academy of Dance in 1997
and was involved in the South Australian Children's Ballet Company
and the South Australian Ballet Company for many years. Cathy is
also a Senior Epidemiologist with the South Australian Department
of Health, and is studying towards her PhD in the Discipline of
Public Health at the University of Adelaide.

Melissa Hill
Jazz Workshop - 8.30pm, Thursday 26 July
Melissa Hill performed in the 123, Singles and Mocean seasons by
Move Through Life, and also choreographed for the latter two. She
facilitated jazz workshops at the 2006 and 2007 MTL Summer Dance
Programs. Melissa has taught jazz and tap at a number of dance schools
around Adelaide, including private studios and public schools. She
is currently teaching at Directions Dance Academy. She has taught
a range of ages, from pre-school to advanced and adults. Melissa
was awarded Honours for her Advanced 1 Modern exam by the Imperial
Society for Teachers of Dance (ISTD). Melissa is in the final year
of an Early Childhood Education degree.

Jo McDonald (with percussion by Paul Richardson)
Contemporary Workshop - 8.30pm, Thursday 19 July
Jo McDonald is the founder and Director of MTL and has danced and
choreographed for all four seasons (excluding Singles because she
was expecting her first baby). She has facilitated contemporary
and yoga workshops for the 2006 and 2007 Summer Dance Program. Jo
teaches jazz to the senior school at Starlite Dance Academy. While
working for Country Arts SA in the Barossa, Jo also founded the
Barossa and Lower Mid North Dance Network and coordinated the inaugural
Barossa Weekend of Dance. Jo has trained in the ISTD ballet and
modern syllabi and was awarded Honours for her Advanced 2 Modern
exam. She is currently studying a Graduate Diploma of Dance Teaching
at Queensland University of Technology. Jo also holds an Honours
degree in Psychology from the University of Adelaide and a Certificate
IV in Commercial Music from the Onkaparinga Institute of TAFE.

Kelly Moritz
Contemporary Workshop - 7.30pm, Thursday 5 July
Kelly Moritz is a performer and administrator at Newmet Intr-active,
SA's only dance in education theatre company. Kelly teaches in schools,
conducting workshops in dance drama and teaching funk and hip hop.
She also teaches ballet and jazz at Starlite Dance Academy. She
was a choreographer and dancer in Mocean by MTL and facilitated
a contemporary workshop for the 2007 Summer Dance Program. Kelly
holds a Bachelor of Dance from AC Arts, having graduated in 2003,
during which time she was an extra in the Australian Ballet's 2002
production of Spartacus at the Adelaide Festival Centre. Her early
training was with Stage One Dance Studio

Aidan Kane Munn
Contemporary Workshop - 7.30pm, Thursday 12 July
Aidan Kane Munn has performed and created work for people throughout
Australia, Asia and Europe. He has taught dance and physical theatre
in South Australia for over 10 years. Currently Aidan teaches at
AC Arts, Flinders University, Dance Craft Studios, Kurruru Indigenous
Youth Performing Arts Inc and Ausdance. He also regularly takes
class for and Australian Dance Theatre and Leigh Warren and Dancers.
Aidan trained at the Australian Ballet School, being awarded a Diploma
of Dance in 1989. Since then, Aidan has performed and choreographed
for numerous companies in styles ranging from contemporary to jazz
to hip hop. He was a founding member of Leigh Warren and Dancers,
and has performed with Australian Dance Theatre, Da Whyze Guize,
and Buzz Hip Hop Circus. He has worked as choreographer and Associate
Director for a number of groups, including TAFE SA AC Arts, Pelican
Productions, Cirkidz, Urban Myth Theatre of Youth and Outrageous
(Outlet Youth Dance Company). An active member of the South Australian
dance scene, Aidan has also sat on the Board for Leigh Warren and
Dancers, the Assessment Panel for TAFE SA AC Arts (Dance Department)
and the judging panel for the Adelaide International Buskers Competition
and Adelaide Fringe Awards (Physical Theatre). Aidan is currently
focused on sharing the skills he has developed over the last twenty
years.

Paul Richardson
Percussionist for Contemporary Workshop - 8.30pm, Thursday 19 July
Paul
Richardson is a singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist
- playing guitar, piano, and various hand drums. He sang with original
funk band The Trip and The Buffalo Blues Band. He has also performed
his own songs around Adelaide as a singer/guitarist. Paul played
the djembe and guitar for Mocean, by Move Through Life, and has
been MC for all four Move Through Life projects. Paul has also dabbled
in musical theatre, having been part of the cast of the musical
A Load of Bullamakanka by St Judes Players.

Effie Saloniklis
Jazz Workshop - 8.30pm, Thursday 5 July
Effie Saloniklis has been teaching jazz for 19 years. She is currently
Co-Principal of Directions Dance Academy, which she co-founded in
2005. Effie holds an Associate Diploma from the ISTD, having previously
been awarded Advanced 2 Modern and Advanced 1 Ballet technical qualifications.
As a teacher, Effie has submitted a number of students for the ISTD
Advanced 2 Modern exam who achieved Honours. Effie has choreographed
community events, including the Glendi Festival, community theatre
and the Minda Family Fun Day, and has facilitated workshops at various
events, including the inaugural Barossa Weekend of Dance and a statewide
workshop for ISTD teachers. She choreographed Transitionfor the
123 season by MTL and facilitated jazz workshops for the 2006 and
2007 Summer Dance Programs. Effie holds a Bachelor of Education
and is currently teaching years 11 and 12 dance at Temple College.
Effie is a Board Member of Ausdance SA.

Chris Shepherd
Jazz Workshop - 8.30pm, Thursday 12 July
Dance performance veteran turned Whyze Guize, Chris Shepherd's
choreographic credits and performances include touring with Danc'in'
Man, David Atkins' Productions, West Side Story, numerous opera
productions for the South Australia Opera and re-stages for the
Victorian Opera Company. He has toured with singer Renee Geyer,
worked in TV shows, commercials, video rock clips, cabaret and film.
He has performed as Petroushka with the Australian Dance Theatre,
directed plays for the SA Writers' Guild, and is the Artistic Director
of Da Whyze Guize Jazz Dance Trio. Chris has been soloist, writer
and associate director of Teatro
del Mundo since it's inception. More recently Chris has many
personal contracts outside of Teatro del Mundo: Love, Valour, Compassion
by Mixed Salad 2003 - Feast Festival, Mallee bull - Cabaret Festival
2004, Cabaret Fringe Festival 2004 with In a Class of their Own.
He has been teaching Jazz and movement at the Flinders University
and worked on choreography for the AC Arts-TAFE productions of Romeo
and Juliet and Macbeth. Chris recently travelled to Taipei National
University of the Arts for three weeks to instruct jazz, tap and
contemporary dance.

Dan Turbill
Contemporary Workshop - 7.30pm, Thursday 26 July
Dan Turbill danced in Singles, and danced and choreographed for
Mocean, both by MTL. He facilitated a contemporary workshop in the
2006 Summer Dance Program. Dan has trained in the ISTD modern and
ballet syllabi and holds an Associate Degree in Dance from the Queensland
University of Technology. Dan also has a background in funk dance,
having trained at the Australian Company of Performing Arts.
