Welcome to last month
of autumn.
The year is marching on. It seems we've
barely rested since the Adelaide Fringe Festival and already we are remounting
Black Coffee for the Mt Barker Jazz Festival. Yes, word
has spread and we now receiving invitations, which is incredibly exciting.
So if you missed it the first time, or just want to see it again, you
are in luck ..... Black Coffee lives again on Saturday 16 May
in Mt Barker. Details of the gig are below.
While it's great to restage Black Coffee,
we're also looking forward. We have a fantastic line up of
guest facilitators for our regular company class on Thursday evenings,
featuring a number of wonderful Adelaide-based independent dance artists
as well as former members of Adelaide's three contemporary companies Leigh
Warren & Dancers, Australian Dance Theatre and Restless Dance.

Black Coffee
Mt Barker performance
The Mt Barker Community Library has invited
us to re-create our seedy 1950s jazz club in their library on 16 May as
part of the Mt Barker Jazz Festival. So we are pulling out the costumes,
warming up the hot rollers and checking the fishnets for ladders in preparation
for the event.
It's a slightly different beast this time,
as we're in quite a different venue, and we have also had to do some re-casting
as some of the incredible dancers from the March season are no longer
available. We are happy to welcome new cast members Matt Dowse,
Danny Hales and Cathy Chittleborough (the latter two are former MTL dancers).
So here's the deets:

Company class While we are rehearsing for Black Coffee
Mark 2, the regular Thursday night company class is a little earlier
and shorter - 6.45-7.45pm at the Glengowrie Uniting Church. From
Thursday 21 May, classes will be from 7.30-9.00pm.
There is a fantastic lineup of guest facilitators
teaching the class. We were lucky to have one week with ex-LWD dancer
Gala Moody last week before she jetted off to Brussels to join a new company.
For the next four weeks class will be taught
by Billie Cook, formerly artistic director of Restless Dance, among
her other achievements.
Keep an eye on the MTL website for the entire
class program, but the details confirmed at the moment are as follows:
7, 14, 21 and 28 May Billie
Cook
11, 18, 26 June and 2 July
Katrina Lazaroff
3, 10, 17, 24 September
Sharon Angove
I'm in the process of confirming others for
July, August, October, November and December - details will be available
soon.
Extraordinary general meeting 6.45pm, Thursday 28 May
Move Through Life Inc is holding an extraordinary
general meeting to vote on amendments to its rules of association.
This follows a vote by members at the AGM to amend the rules. Following
legal advice, we are now ready to vote on the exact wording.
Only MTL members will be able to vote,
so if your membership has lapsed, please update it before the 28th.
MTL members will receive a separate email regarding the EGM, along with
the proposed amendments.
Policies The board of MTL has been working over the
last few months to develop new policies to ensure we function at our best
and provide a safe environment. I am pleased to say the first policy
has been ratified - the Health and Safety Policy is now available on the
MTL website. Policies under consideration at the moment include
safe dance, media, crisis management and food handling. We are also
in the process of conducting a venue safety audit.
Well, that's all folks. I'll let
you know if anything else comes up in the near future. I hope
to see you sometime soon at either an event or a performance.
